Why the effectiveness of vaccines is rapidly waning and the advantages of having the Omicron variant of the disease.
He gives a clear lifecycle of the effectiveness of the vaccines. These are measured in WEEKS, in the region of 12 weeks, or 3 months.
Fortunately if you get Omicron then the protection from severe symptoms remains high, but will still fades.
He explains why the effectiveness of repeated booster shots becomes less and less effective for shorter and shorter times.
By the 4th one it is only effective for a few weeks.
On the other hand when (not if) you get Omicron your Natural Immunity will be boosted for a year or two. So an annual flu like vaccination will keep it under control and provide protection.
In addition Omicron attacks the upper airways rather than the lungs, so less virus gets directly into the blood – hence its milder effect.
Dr Campbell should congratulated for the clarity and simplicity of his analysis and explanation of the situation. This is in very stark contrast to the bumbling utterances of the Government’s Covid-Crew.
His conclusion from all this is that – to get the best and longest immunity to Covid19 you need to get Omicron soon.
Why? Because you still have some rapidly fading protection from vaccination which will mitigate its effects and getting Omicron will give you much longer term immunity, about 10 times more.
Of course that is not a recommendation, each person is different, you must make your own mind up about your best course of action now.
For those who haven’t been vaccinated this vindicates their choice, unless of course they were old and vulnerable at the start of the Pandemic.
In any case the vaccines provide only short term protection, getting the Omicron variant of the disease provides much longer protection.
The fact that Omicron’s effects are MUCH milder than previous variants and is easier to catch has saved the day.
