Even Angus Scott, the originator of the petition, is staggered by how fast the signatures are piling up on the Petition against Tony Blair receiving the Order of the Garter, the highest honour in the land.

The petition reached 1 million signatures !
Tony Blair became a member of the Order of the Garter, England’s oldest and most senior order of chivalry on 1st January 2022.
The appointment was the personal choice of the Queen.
She can nominate up to 24 “knight and lady companions”.
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson not involved in the decision.
The petition asserts that :
“Tony Blair caused irreparable damage to both the constitution of the United Kingdom and to the very fabric of the nation’s society” while in office
“Tony Blair was personally responsible for causing the death of countless innocent, civilian lives and servicemen in various conflicts. For this alone he should be held accountable for war crimes”
” Tony Blair is the least deserving person of any public honour, particularly anything awarded by Her Majesty the Queen.”
This Contrarian’s view is that this is a major blunder by the Palace and most unfortunately the Queen. Traditionally the Queen has refrained from becoming involved in politics, especially divisive National issues.
